I know it might seem strange to combine book reviews, but since Emperor’s Edge books 6 and 7 are technically two parts of the same book, I thought it appropriate. First, let me start by saying that the Emperor’s Edge series by Lindsay Buroker is one of my favorites OF ALL TIME. Hands down. It is that good. So, spoiler alert, my review is going to be glowing. Let’s dive in, shall we?

Title: Forged in Blood I

Author: Lindsay Buroker

Length: Around 800-ish pages

Genre: Fantasy, Steampunk, Romance, Action-Adventure

My Rating: 5/5 (HANDS DOWN)

WOW. The first part of the grand EE finale had me DYING on the edge of my seat for more. Having Sicaurius as the second POV for both part I and II was a brilliant move on Buroker’s part and it was excellent to finally rattle around in that assassin’s head and get some real information out of his experience.

Because I’m not a big fan of spoilers in book reviews, I’ll give you a basic summary. This book picks up after the events in Beneath the Surface (a novella between books 5 and 6) with everyone heading into the capital to take part in their scheme to stop Forge and the usurpers of Sespian’s former throne. You’ve got the whole gang together and some old supporting favorites like Deret Mancrest. The action gets going from page one and it is a quick read, despite its girth.

The end puts us at a somewhat cliffhanger of tension. It’s a great thing that Lindsay went ahead and put out book II rather quickly (like a whole month earlier than she had previously predicted; you GO girl!) Thankfully, I waited to read both books until she had released book II, so I immediately dived right into it!

Title: Forged in Blood II

Author: Lindsay Buroker

Length: 400 ish pages

Genre: Fantasy, Steampunk, Romance, Action-Adventure

My Rating: 5/5 (SOOOOOOO GOOD!)

What can I really say about this book? It blew me away. I was so awestruck by the way in which Buroker was able to craft such a fast paced, action and emotion packed ending to such a brilliant series. I had such high expectations and honestly they were surpassed. The end of one of the greatest book series of all time was perfect. I loved it so much.

Closing my Kindle Fire at the end was so bittersweet. It left me wanting oh, so much more from this world…from these characters…from the genius mind of Lindsay Buroker. I truly hope we haven’t seen the last of Amaranthe and the gang. I know that they will be much beloved by the fans forever and ever.

Thank you, Lindsay, for creating such a fantastic saga that touched so many hearts, gave us so many laughs, and enabled us to spend so much time enjoying your well-crafted world. You are brilliant.
