Title: Ice Cracker II

Author: Lindsay Buroker

Length: Novella//Short Story

Genre: Fantasy//Steampunk

My Rating: 4/5 Stars

I really envy Buroker’s talent at writing engaging short stories! I’ve never really been good at that sort of thing, but it is definitely on my “to-keep-working-at-until-I’m-good-at-it” list. I thoroughly enjoyed this short story from the Emperor’s Edge series! It is technically the 1.5 book of the series, coming between The Emperor’s Edge and Dark Currents. The basic synopsis is that Amaranthe and Sicarius discover two dead soldiers and a Kendorian on their jogging path and follow the clues all the way to one of the empire’s ice cracking ships. They uncover a plot to sink the ship and try to stop it from happening. It was a great plot for a short story with just enough action and dialogue to keep the plot flowing well. I only give it a four because I would have liked a little more dialogue and maybe it could have been a tad bit longer, but all in all, it was a fun read and it greatly added to my enjoyment of the Emperor’s Edge universe. Keep on writing the great stuff, Lindsay!

You can find this book on Amazon ($0.99 with additional short stories), Smashwords (free), and Barnes and Noble (free).
