Though I don’t tend to think of classifying books as YA or Adult, there are many books that I adore that fall within the Young Adult category. I typically just devour a book if I know it’s Fantasy//Science Fiction. I don’t really pay attention to whether it’s YA or not. Still, I thought it would be fun to dig around my shelves and take out my favorites from this category. These Young Adult books pictured above all happen to be fantasies. If I’d remembered, I’d have grabbed Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card for the picture, since it represents the Sci-fi nut in me. Just pretend it’s there! It’s one of my absolute favorites! So is Sabriel by Garth Nix (also not seen in the picture–DOH!)

>> Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine

>> The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

>> The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

>> Holes by Louis Sachar

>> Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O’Brien

>> The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner

>> Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

>> The Unicorn Chronicles by Bruce Coville

>> The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis

>> Redwall by Brian Jacques

>> Sabriel by Garth Nix (Not pictured–oops)

>> Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card (Also not pictured–oops–also not fantasy, but gotta represent the Sci-fi side of things, right?)

There you have it! If you’re looking for terrific and challenging reads for a young adult in your life, these books are AMAZING and I cannot recommend them highly enough. If you don’t have a young adult in your life and you just like reading YA books, check these out! in case you’re wondering, YA books typically are targeted for readers ages 12-18, however, these books listed above will be enjoyed by children and adults also!

Get to reading!

Looking for another YA//Adult read? Check out my book, Night Bells! It’s a fantasy story set on a fictional ice planet! You can find it here and here in eBook and here in print. If you love stories about mystery, magic, and family, you’ll love Night Bells.

Have a happy Sunday!

  • I love all of your option, particularly Sabriel. I could not put it down. I LOVE that whole series. I am a big fan of John White’s Anthropos Archives which are lesser known but good.

    • Ooo! I’ve never heard of John White or those books! I’ll have to go and check them out! Yeah, Sabriel is SUCH an amazing book. It’s highly under read.
