As I’ve been preparing for my Nine Nights of Narnia blogging event later this month, I’ve been listening to the audiobook version of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. All I can say is, I’m totally hooked on audio-reading. I had no idea I would enjoy audiobooks so much! The version I’m listening to is performed by Michael York and he has such a fascinating way of bringing the characters to life! I have always thoroughly enjoyed being read to and I knew I would adore audiobooks.
I’m not sure why I put off procuring an audiobook for so long, but now that I have two in my possession (the one previously mentioned and The Hobbit), I know that I’ll most likely be a dedicated audiobook “reader” for life! There is something immensely intimate and calming about listening to someone read to you. It forces you to quiet and still your mind (similar to normal reading) and it forces you to pay attention and keep up! I LOVE AUDIOBOOKS!
I’m a little over half-way through The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe now and I cannot WAIT to see what happens next! Though I’ve already read the book a couple times over the years, listening to the reading of it helps the whole experience to feel totally new and exciting. P.S.– Funny tidbit: I really liked that they “added” the Father Christmas scene to the movies. “What a cool addition to the story!” I thought. Turns out…I had forgotten that Father Christmas does, indeed, show up and deliver the children’s weapons to them in the book… LOL.
