Hi, everyone! I came across this lovely blogging event via The Cheap Reader. We are planning to host the actual event on our blogs sometime in early 2013 (either February or March). The premise? Choose a fairy tale (that hasn’t already been chosen) and read it, along with at least 3 retellings of the story, and post reviews on your blog! There are many other things you can do to jazz up the event, but this is the bare minimum. All stories you read must be young adult or child appropriate. 🙂 Click here to sign up for yourself! It’s going to be great fun!
The fairy tale I chose is: “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”. If you’ve read my short story, The Wolf at the End of the Hall, you’ll know I was terrified of wolves as a kid–largely in part due to this very story! I do think, however, that it is a marvelous morality tale espousing the idea that lying can get you into a whole lot of trouble. Because of this, I wanted to revisit the tale and see if I could find any cool retellings.
Here are the versions I’m planning to read:
>> The Boy Who Cried Wolf — Aesop
>> The Girl Who Cried Monster — a Goosebumps novel by R.L. Stine
>> The Wolf Who Cried Boy — Bob Hartman
>> Wolf! Wolf! — John Rocco
Any other suggestions? I’d love to hear!
Can’t wait for this event! I’m glad I have enough time to get ready for it, though…:-)
