*Sigh* We all love a good love story, right? I’ve been watching Flower Boy Ramen Shop on Netflix lately and I can’t stop SWOOMING! Amiright? I just love Korean TV Shows. They are so different from American stuff and are so often CRAZY romantic!! If you haven’t watched FBRS before AND you have Netflix, get to your TV RIGHT NOW and watch that stuff! So GOOD!

Not as much of a TV buff? Love reading romance stories? Don’t want to wade through graphic sex to get to the sweet love story underneath? I’m right there with ya! Here are some fabulous, sex-scene-free romance novels and novels with romantic undertones that are perfect for a night-in with pajamas and a mug of hot chocolate! Get thee to reading!

Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine

I know I’m always talking about this book, but it’s just SO darn romantic to me and so, so sweet. It’s a great modern fairy tale and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read it.

Mark of the Lion Trilogy by Francine Rivers

ZOMG…this is SUCH a fantastic series!!! Francine Rivers is an extremely talented author and this Christian series is a fabulous story of Christ’s love and of the love between a man and a woman!!

Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones

This is another gem of fantasy fiction with romantic undertones. LOVE IT TO PIECES!

The Folk Keeper by Franny Billingsley

This is a fantastic little story that is a quick, but rich read! There is a tender love story in this one that always brings a smile to my face!

If you’re looking for sweet, epic romances, give one of the above a shot! You’re bound to adore them ALL!

Happy Reading. 😉

Sweet Romances Without the Graphic Sex

Howl’s Moving Castle is also an animated movie. Just gorgeous.

About the graphic sex novels — back in high school (yes, I know this was 35 years ago) — I was in a creative writing class my Senior year. Behind me sat Mary Beth Oliveto. One day, she had brought in a romance novel and before class there were several girls gathered around her desk. They were howling over some passages in the book. Feeling both curious and mischievous, I turned around, grabbed the book, hunched down with the book between my knees and proceeded to read the following sentence:

“Her body worked like a well-oiled machine.”

At that point, the girls ripped the book out of my hands. I never did find out what it was all about….

    • Oh yes, I absolutely ADORE the animated movie by Hayao Miyazaki. I’m a Miyazaki fanatic!!! I have *almost* all of his movies (and Studio Ghibli’s movies in general) on DVD.

Haha, that’s hilarious. I had a similar experience in high school when I went away to a college program for six weeks. One of the girls’ moms had sent her a bunch of romance novels and I remember we would laugh at all the melodramatic covers and then pick out hilarious snippets. My personal favorite was… “He smelled like sandlewood, woodchips, and sex.” (O_O) For reals? LOL.

Don’t worry, GW. You weren’t missing anything in that book! LOL.
